I contacted Neil Mcevoy regarding shadowing and discussed my aims and objectives. We concluded that Neil was going to email me the available dates.

12th November 2009

I received an email From Neil Mc Evoy regarding the relevant meetings. These meetings include the Pentrebane residents Association meeting on the 17th December, the Council EBM meeting on the 3rd December at 1pm, the PACT meeting on the 9th December, the Council meeting on the 17th December, and the Plaid Cymru Party meeting to be arranged.

17th of November 2009

I attended the Residents association meeting on this day. The association gives the residents of Pentrebane the opportunity to discuss any issues of concern to the council. The meetings are held once every month, and are attended by the councillors. I observed that many issues were raised by residents, and councillors were able to respond to the issues. For anti-social behaviour issues, residents were advised to inform the police or attend PACT meetings. Other issues were referred to the Council. I was unable to discuss the outcome of the meeting because Neil McEvoy had another meeting afterwards.

3rd December 2009

The Council EBM meeting was today at 1pm. I was unable to attend this meeting though because my annual leave was not approved from work. I informed the Councillor of this immediately.

9th December 2009

The PACT meeting was today from 7-8pm.I thought the meeting was starting at 7:30pm, and when I arrived at the meeting at 7:30 there was no –one to open the door for me. I ended up going back home without attending the meeting. I have attended PACT meetings a couple of times, and I have observed that the main discussions in this meeting are mostly on how to tackle anti-social behaviour in the community. The councillors, residents, invited guests and the police attend these meetings.

10th December 2009

I telephoned my mentor, Gwenllian Lansdown, and we have arranged to meet in the New Year, the first week of January 2010.

17th December 2009

The Council Meeting is today at 4:30pm. I will be attending this meeting and it will be a great opportunity for me to observe. Also, I will be able to discuss with the Councillor after this meeting.
