Saqib Bhatti MP (Conservative)

Saqib Bhatti was elected as the Conservative MP for Meriden in the December 2019 General Election, with 34,358 votes, equaling 63.4% of the vote share.

Bhatti was born in Walsall, West Midlands. Educated at King Edward VI School for Boys in Edgbaston before going to the London School of Economics to read Law.

A chartered accountant by profession, Bhatti qualified at Deloitte and became a director in his family’s accountancy firm in 2011. Saqib was the youngest ever President of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce. He is the former President of the Asian Business Chambers of Commerce.

During the EU referendum he was Co-Secretary General of Muslims for Britain, a campaign group working with Vote Leave. He is a director of Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership, and of the Broad Street Business Improvement District.

In 2019 he received an honourary doctorate from Aston University in Business Administration. Saqib is a board member of the West Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadets Association. He has also formerly served as a trustee of The Lord Mayor’s Charity in Birmingham and on the board of the Lunar Society.
