Her name is Mary Agyeiwaa Agyapong


A heavily pregnant NHS Nurse has become one of 45 known NHS members of staff to have tragically passed as a result of Covid-19. Mary Agyeiwaa Agyapong, 28 and a daughter, wife and now Mother passed away on Sunday.

Channel 4 reports that Mary Agyeiwaa Agyapong who had worked at Luton and Dunstable Hospital for 5 years was admitted to the hospital on the 7th of April. Confirmation came from Bedfordshire Hospitals themselves who confirm that she had:

“Tested positive for Covid-19 after being tested on 5th of April and was admitted to the hospital on the 7th April”

Channel 4 go on to report that her health had deteriorated but that an emergency caesarean which had taken place a few days before her eventual passing on the 12th had proved successful. They also understand that her baby is both alive and being cared for.

In an address from David Carter, CEO of Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, she was described as:

“A highly valued and loved member of our team, a fantastic nurse and a great example of what we stand for in this Trust.”

Further on, he went on to add that:

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Mary’s family and friends at this sad time. We ask that the family’s privacy is respected at this time.”

She is not believed to have had any underlying health conditions.

She was just 28 years old. Her name is Mary Agyeiwaa Agyapong. May she rest in peace.
