A Career in Clinical Psychology? Empowering People from BAME Communities

Details:
Running for a fourth year, this workshop is for people from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds who are interested in a career in Clinical Psychology. Themes include why diversity is important in the profession and how to increase your prospects of getting on to a training programme. At the event, you will have the opportunity to hear speakers giving facinating insights into thier work in clinical psychology and beyond. Lunch will be provided and current trainees will be available to answer questions.

Jacqui Dyer MBE Lambeth Councillor. Vice Chair OSC. Chair Black Thrive. Thrive LDN SG CoChair. NHS’ Five Year Forward View for Mental Health Vice Chair. Government advisor on the Mental Health Act
Dr Masuma Rahim. London based Clinical Psychologist, interested in the areas of LGBT mental health, trauma,neuropsychology, and epidemiology.
Dr Jeyda Ibrahim. South London and Maudsley NHS Trust based Clinical Psychologist specialising in children with a background of abuse and trauma.
Dr Erica Mapule McInnis. Director & Principal Clinical Psychologist with Nubia Wellness & Healing, specialising in African centred approaches to improving wellbeing.
Professor Paul Salkovskis. Director of the Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology Training and Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre.
Dr Reena Vohora. Clinical psychologist specialising in neurorehabilitation. Academic tutor and supervisor at the Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology Training.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
The event is close to Oxford Railway Station and we ask people attending to use public transport if possible. There is limited onsite parking, please email when ordering your ticket if you require a parking space.
Is food provided?
Yes, refreshments and a sandwich lunch are provided free of charge.
What time should I arrive?
Doors will be open from 09.00 for registration. Please arrive in good time, as the event will start promptly at 10.00
