Nathanael Wei

Nathanael Ming-Yan Wei, Lord Wei, born in Watford in 1977, is currently the youngest member of the House of Lords. He studied Modern Languages at Jesus College, Oxford.

In 2006, Wei helped develop Future Leaders, an Absolute Return for Kids programme, which seeks to attract high-performing teachers to disadvantaged schools. Around the same time, he helped create the Shaftesbury Partnership, an organisation that works toward social reforms. He has also been involved in the Young Foundation.

Lord Wei is also recognised for his time spent advising the Civil Service on the development and implementation of Big Society. He stepped down in May of 2011, but continued his work through the Community Foundation Network. In June 2012, he was introduced to the House of Lords, becoming the first British-born peer of Chinese origin.
