Kwasi Kwarteng MP (Conservative)

Kwasi Kwarteng has served as a Conservative MP for Spelthorne since 2010. Recently in the December 2019 General Election, Kwasi received 29,141 votes, which equalled a 58.9% majority, retaining his seat.

Kwasi was born and grew up in London. At the age of 13 he gained a scholarship to Eton before reading History at Trinity College Cambridge. He earned a Bachelor's degree and a PhD in British History and was also on the series-winning team on University Challenge in Jeremy Paxman's first year as the host.

Kwasi worked as a company analyst in the City for seven years, and also as a journalist.

He was Conservative Candidate for Brent East at the 2005 General Election, Chairman of the Bow Group in 2006 and a candidate for the London Assembly in 2008.

On 22nd January 2010, Kwasi won an open primary in Kempton Park, at which just over 400 Spelthorne residents voted. Since then, Kwasi has established Spelthorn Conservative future.

Kwasi has served as a member of the Transport Committee, Work and Pensions Committee, Finance Committee, and Public Accounts Committee
